Babel & Now

I felt it would be good to unpack what Babel represents to us in the times we are now in.

We are seeing things shift in the earth as never before. But let's take a few minutes to consider what happened to get a better understanding of what the Lord spoke to me.

First, a truly big one. The word Babel. Do you know what that word Babel means?

Babel means confusion. We can easily see that Babel is operating in our times. The world is filled with it! Everything that is playing out does not make sense. We are truly in Babel.

What else happened in the times of Babel? In Genesis 11:1. "And the whole earth was of one lauguage, and of one speech." The Chumash, which is the first five books of the Bible with notes from Hebrew scholars, states that at this time Noah, Shem, and Abraham were among the people still alive to impress good values and advice. But people did not listen. Sound like today? All the good advice feels like it's gone right out the window, doesn't it?

Scripture states the people decided to build a city and a tower whose top would reach to heaven. They said, "Let us build a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth." Genesis 11:4.

Let's look at the two parts of this. First, they decided to make for themselves a name. The Hebrew word for name here, according to my Interlinear Bible using Strong's Concordance is the word 8034 - the word Shem, the same name as Noah's son, Shem. But here the name means shame. The name of Shem also means an appellation, as a mark or memorial of individuality. It can mean renown, authority, and when it's good it can mean honor or character.

They did not listen to the ones who were wise and still alive - to know that God had promised to never flood the earth again. They decided to build a name and somehow it would not protect them from being scattered abroad the earth. Wrong.

God descends. Notice His Name is plural. "Let us go down and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech." Genesis 11:7.

What mankind - even ones that are God's people - attempts to do - to raise up - God will strike down and bring a change so large, so drastic, that He is in control to move people where He wants them to reside. Think about how many people have just been shifted with what has played out in Afghanistan! More than 100,000 people have been relocated to other nations. What a shift!

Now, as a creative person, I truly love what God did in Scripture with the languages. I am not very skilled at studying foreign languages, but the sound of various ways of speaking - it has such variety and beauty. Our God so much bigger than what man would do! He does not do them as we think - what but from HIGHER HE CHANGES THINGS TO ACCOMPLISH HIS PLANS.

And right now, that appears to be happening again. God is moving people to different locations. He is bringing His Kingdom to earth, and is shifting all sorts of things. Our job is to advance His Kingdom, and occupy until He comes. He chose us to live in this time. He brings us to our knees in adoration and awe, in holy fear of His power and might. The earth is shifting. Be listening for where He wants you to be. Jesus is coming - and we as believers have been selected to be here now to see all that comes forth. For no moment do I want harm and hurt to anyone in the earth, but God uses what the enemy intends for evil for good.

Though they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device

Blessings,
